1941 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck restoration underway

I have been working on a 1941 Chevy truck for the past couple of years. Mostly gathering needed missing parts. Still need a wiring harness, a brake master cylinder, bed mount kit and wood for the bed, glass and weatherstripping, and some fender welting. I have purchased parts from ebay, craigslist, bow tie bits and Jim carter chevy parts. The next few months will tell whether or not it is ready for the local spring fair. I was hoping to drive it in the parade in May. Lot's of work left to do though, just hoping to have the time and money to get it done.

  3. Backyard Bird Count by Fresno Audubon Society, Blackhawk Museum trip with NorCal HHR Club, more parts for the 41.
It was a busy 4 day weekend, being on call, plus a visit to the Blackhawk museum in Danville on Saturday, Valentines Day on Saturday, got tickets to Barry Manilow for my wife coming. Got a real good deal on orchestra seats.
Ordered more parts for the 41 chevy truck. All of the bolts and blocks to mount the bed on the frame are coming, along with a new master brake cylinder, a new wiring harness, a glovebox and bunch of small parts. This will get it most of the way done provided I can get it all together and painted.I also found time to disassemble the bed on my 41 chevy truck. All of the bolts that held the strips were rusted of course and had to be cut off. I used a wire cone brush to knock of most of the old paint and rust. I straightened out the strips and wire brushed them also. I am missing 5 cross sills which I will probably order from Jim Carter Old CHevy Truck parts. THe bolts are coming in a kit and I will assemble it with a single piece of 1 inch plywood. I may decide to order a wood kit, but it is another 200 for that. A piece of plywood would be a lot cheaper and look just as nice when its stained and varnished. Hopefully.....
The Blackhawk museum is an upscale building in a ritsy part of Danville Ca. Upper Crust you might say. It houses Bentleys, Rolls Royces, Pierce Arrows, Deusenburgs, Ferraris and other true classic cars. We went as a group, namely the NorCal HHR club. A special treat was when I was getting ready to take pictures of the HHRs, a GT40 pulls in. He was going to join the local falcon car club but couldnt find them. So he parked just a few feet from us. So I was temporarily distracted while he was there. I was able to talk to the owner Charles, and snapped a few pics. He was very gracious as I drooled over his car.
The birding club, Fresno County Birders of which I am a member is affiliated with the Audubon Society society, and this past weekend it was time for what they call a Backyard Bird Count. So I took time Sunday to roam around 'out back' on my 6 acre homesite to seek out all the feathered friends I could find. Mostly all of the usual birds, Black Phoebes, Scrub Jays, White Crowned Sparrows, Crows, Red Hawks, Yellow Rumped Warblers, but, I am pretty sure I saw a Sage Thrasher out in the reeds in the slough. Wish I had brought my camera, but alas did not.
Any day I am able to pass the time birding is a good day.
